Linguists in El Salvador
"Do not call it science to solitary studies of an isolated man. Only when a community of men, more or less the intercom, help and encourage each other to understand a particular set of phenomena, as no individual could understand, then just call that building a science "
(Nature of Science, Pierce 1905)
were given the opportunity to participate in the II Meeting of researchers and inventors Salvadoran (New Focus, University of Technology 2008), where I presented The paper English Phonetics El Salvador in the Linguistic Atlas of El Salvador multidimensional (not really accommodate the power point and those pyrotechnics "academic", I would have liked a sobering reading as usual and elsewhere). The important thing is that at the end of the presentation talked to Francisco Dominguez, who was very interested in the topic and was pleasantly surprised to walk two by the same chores around language, linguistics and linguists . I say this because in a class with Don Juan Manuel Lope Blanch, complained, the famous English teacher, because they were more interested in generative linguistics that language, do not remember if it was quoted in a Coseriu, as owner of the idea.
Finally, agreed to meet with friends, friends and acquaintances who are interested the subject (Triad speech-language-linguists).
Last Saturday (March 7) we met at the UCA in pleasant and beloved gathering:
1. Ana Margarita Marroquín (lexicographer) ami3781@gmail.com
2. Roxana Beltran of Cantarely (lexicographer) rossanabell@gmail.com
3. Francisco Dominguez (lexicographer) fran_jose@hotmail.com
4. Jorge Lemus (theoretical linguist) jlemus@udb.edu.sv
5. Raul Azcúnaga (Hispanic) razcunaga@gmail.com
